Housing Minister and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has said the PWD has sanctioned works to repair and hotmix roads in Saligao constituency to the tune of Rs 51 crore, adding that these works will be completed before the next monsoon.
He was speaking after launching the work to build a new road at Cumyawado“Guirim in the presence of Guirim Sarpanch Chaitally Morajkar and other panch members.
“In the absence of a road at Cumyawado, residents were forced to walk through fields and during rains, the people would face a lot of hardships.”
“A farmer, Rama Gadekar, gave permission to PWD to construct a road through his field. The construction of a road in Cumyawado and repairs to the compound wall of Rashtroli temple is being done by PWD at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore,” said Salgaonkar.
Stating that the government has decided to construct a water treatment plant of 20 MLD capacity at Guirim, the minister said efforts were underway to identify the area.
“Once this water treatment plant is set up, water problems faced by residents of Saligao constituency would be reduced considerably,” said Salgaonkar.
Guirim Sarpanch Chaitally Morajkar said residents of Cumyawado had been demanding a road in their area for the last 20 years and thanked Salgaonkar for taking the initiative to construct a road.
Guirim Deputy Sarpanch Sunny Nanodkar also spoke at the event.
